This past week I sat in on a couple of “where do conservatives go from here” panels. Bear in mind that it was the Republican brand which was in trouble in 2008, not necessarily the conservative brand.

Sen. Barack Obama has a huge lead. No, Sen. John McCain, III is closing the gap. The next poll shows Obama running away with the election. With McCain, it is a 2-point race. No, Obama is 7 points ahead.

Is there growing opposition to reimposing the so-called Fairness Doctrine or is there a clever plot to convince opponents that they need not worry?

Forget the election for the moment. We will know the outcome in less than two weeks.

The question one ought to consider seriously is what to do with one’s money. Lord knows there is a great deal of advice out there. One of CNBC’s gurus has advised that anyone who will need money in the next five years, especially older folks, should take all of their money out of the stock market.
